Up or Staying
Ahead?
Today's blog on the
HP/EDS deal comes from Peter Allen, Partner and
Managing Director, TPI.

TPI’s Sourcing
Leadership Exchange (SLE) and Sourcing Industry
Conference (SIC) Break Attendance Records
In late April, TPI held its SIC
(for service providers and law firms) and SLE
(for buy-side participants) conferences in
Chicago.
|
| SIC
|
This year’s conference theme was
"Tipping Points: Critical Moments in the
Sourcing Life Cycle," and 120 executives from
more than 50 service provider firms came to
Chicago to discuss how to advance sourcing
industry practices and knowledge among service
providers.
The topic of "innovation"
earned the most buzz during the conference, and
executives discussed how to put innovation more
prominently on the table for outsourcing
relationships. Other debates crossed a spectrum
of context ranging from macroeconomic factors to
the minutiae of individual transaction
terms. |

| SLE |
This
event, titled “Sorting through a Crowded
Sourcing Universe: Essential Insight for
Action,” attracted an unprecedented number of
representatives from over 80 different
companies.
Despite popular conjecture
about a slowdown in the adoption of outsourcing
the attendees generally expressed a desire to
become ever MORE active in using outsourcing to
achieve greater variability in their corporate
cost profiles.
Many of the attendees,
whether in the planning stages or actively
managing existing arrangements, were keen on
achieving even greater flexibility in their
costs. The discussions around captive
operations, shared services, internal
optimization, and outsourcing received
considerable air time in the context of programs
to improve costs, capabilities and
capacity.
